Porsche just gave the world a glimpse of the sports car of tomorrow as it unveiled its new Panamera Sport Turismo Plug-in Hybrid concept at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The next-gen vehicle is powered by a new plug-in hybrid system that packs 416 horsepower, and the electric motor can drive in full electric mode at up to 80 mph for 19 miles. Thanks to the lithium-ion battery and electric motor, the Panamera Sport Turismo concept consumes less than 3.5 liters of fuel per 100 km (67.2 mpg US).
According to Porsche, the new Panamera Sport Turismo is designed to “show [how] amazingly intelligent and efficient drive technology might look in the design language of tomorrow.” The Panamera Sport Turismo concept is essentially a wagon or Shooting Brake version of the Porsche Panamera, which would also be the perfect competitor to the new Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake. Overall the design of the Panamera Sport Turismo borrows many design cues from other Porsche models like the Cayenne, the Boxster and the 911. The design of the concept also previews what we can expect to the next Panamera to look like.
