With the recent passing of Steve Jobs, people have honored his great accomplishments in many different ways. However, a
Land Art contest held at Mont-Saint-Hilaire in Quebec, Canada from the 12th to 16th of October inspired a new way to pay homage. Artist
Olivier Lefebvre changed his original entry idea to create a huge portrait of Jobs using 3,500 apples.
The enormous 22′ by 15′ feat is made from over 3,500 apples. Lefebvre bought a few crates of deer apples, which are not edible by humans, and got to work. Using a 2′ x 2′ grid system and a portrait of Steve Jobs that appeared on the cover of Time magazine to loosely guide his creation, the project took between 40 and 50 hours to complete. It has received much attention and remains in tact for now. The apples will likely eventually be consumed by the orchards three resident deer.
