It’s not every day a prince is credited with inspiring a new electric car, but that’s what apparently happened with the new Fisker Karma electric sports car, which has finally come to production in Europe. Company CEO Henrik Fisker commented at the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend, “[Sovereign] Prince Albert [of Monaco] was one of the people who inspired me to create the Fisker Karma. When I met him at the Top Marques Show in Monaco in 2006 he commented that he would love to see a fuel-efficient luxury car, and from that small seed grew the concept of what became Fisker Automotive and our focus on premium EVer cars that deliver pure driving passion.”

Prince Albert took a few laps around the Monaco circuit with Mr. Fisker in the first European production edition of the Karma before the race. The Monaco Grand Prix proudly displayed Fisker’s Karma all weekend, after which it could be seen at Fisker’s newest dealership, Monaco Motors, on La Rue Princesse Florestine.
