Queens Botanical Garden’s LEED Platinum Visitors Center Boasts a Sloping Green Roof

New York City is chock full of eye-catching green buildings , but sometimes you’ve got to go off the beaten Manhattan  path to see the truly inspiring sustainable buildings. Next time you’re looking for some eco-inspiration, hop on the 7 train  to Flushing, where you’ll find the Queens Botanical Garden . Not only are the grounds themselves filled with 27 lush, green and flowering oases, but the visitors center is a spectacular state-of-the-art LEED  Platinum building designed by BKSK Architects . The visitors center boasts a sloping green roof that’s open to the public, plus a solar array and a rainwater cachement system, creating the perfect place to learn about sustainable building and experience nature.
