Located in Rome, “Officina Roma” was commissioned by MAXXI (Museo Nazionale Della Arti des XXI Secolo). The building is composed as a collage, mixing recycled materials and simple building techniques to create a strong visual statement on easy to build, resourceful and affordable architecture. Made of recycled oil barrels, bottles, wood, old windows and even car parts for the bedroom, this fantastic shelter calls visitors to question their lifestyle and increases awareness about local resources and teamwork.

“Officina Roma” was created in the context of Raumlabor’s “RE-cycle: Strategies for Architecture, City and Planet” exhibition. It will be on display from the 1st of December 2011 to April 29th, 2012, and the Berlin-based multidisciplinary practice will also be hosting workshops and discussions. The topics sound great and will include experimental building methods, alternative living concepts, and recycled design, so if you are around Italy’s historic capital don’t miss out!
