by tom, 03/16/10

Upcycled side table, salvaged wood, salvaged furniture, recycled wood furniture, eco furniture, green furniture, sustainable furniture, sustainable design, eco design, green design

Author, furniture designer and hand tool enthusiast Tom Fidgen designed and built this side table using salvaged Ash collected from the shores of Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Canada. The drawer fronts are made of reclaimed Angelique wood that sat on a barge in Martha’s Vineyard for the better part of 100 years, and the table is finished with a food safe oil blend. It was built using only hand tools – no electricity! For more custom designs and to see inside a ‘hand tool only’ workshop visit the Unplugged Woodshop.

Was a lil’ surprised to see the Unplugged Woodshop article and how you guys were fascinated by the fact that no electrical tools were used in the making of all their furniture, From this part of the world where I’m writing from, its a regular practice and we still do all our wood working by using age old tools.

Anyways good to see that someone is doing something for the environment.
