Here at Inhabitat we have seen many wonderful creations emerge from recycled shipping containers. From piled-up solar-powered houses to entire cities built from them, by comparison, Refunc’s big-scale installation is a difficult one to forget.
Both the shipping containers and the wind turbine‘s propellor were found locally, and they were pieces that had fallen out of use. The completed installation was powered by solar panels placed at one of the containers’ roof, and the containers were painted red to create a fiery contrast within the musical landscape.
The completion of Containosaurus was possible thanks to the help of constructions advisors Aronsohn, the Lowlands support crew, and of course, some of the Refunc members including Jan Körbes and Denis Oudendijk.
