Gallery: RIBA Announces Stirling Prize Shortlisted Projects and More Th...

It's that time of year again, when the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) announces the shortlist of contestants for the coveted 2011 Stirling Prize. This year, we've sussed out which of these sizzling hot projects are green, and were excited to see that more than half of them are! Included on the RIBA list are such sustainable standouts as: the Angel Building, which has already won prizes for its sustainable expansion; the Folkwang Museum extension that incorporates recycled glass into its enigmatic facade; the lovely restored Royal Shakespeare Theater that brings drama-lovers back to nature; and of course the Velodrome by Hopkins Architects, previously featured on Inhabitat as a "structure [that] bodes well for both green design and energy savings." Click through our gallery to see all of the green buildings shortlisted to win the Stirling Prize.
