Well readers, you thought fashion week ended weeks ago, but we are here to tell you that it is always fashion week somewhere. Here is some reportage on the latest green fashion events from around the globe.
SEATTLE GREEN FASHION WEEK
Seattle’s Green Fashion Week, hosted by eco-model powerhouse Summer Rayne Oakes, took place October 2nd – 7th. Check out her website for plenty of pics. PARIS ETHICAL FASHION SHOW
Hopping across the pond, on October 11th – 14th The Ethical Fashion Show was held in Paris. This is one of the original ethical fashion shows, which now apparently has lots of company. On October 19th many British designers showed at an ethical fashion show at The Islington Contemporary Art & Design Fair.
LA FASHION WEEK
Then there was L.A. fashion week, October 14th – 18th, which had a green initiative and long time green casual wear company Ecoganik also showed on the regular schedule. During the week there was also Eco Nouveau a green awareness raising event that included a fashion show highlighting the work of Bahar Shahpar, Gary Harvey and Amanda Shi. Linda Loudermilk (above) held her show at a BP gas station. In response to the rather casual eco-looks that were sent down the runway elsewhere around town, she gave a mandate to get serious about design.
EARTHPLEDGE FUTUREFASHION IN NYC
On October 17th, EarthPledge presented a FutureFashion show in New York. This is the only event of all that I actually attended. I was a little disappointed by the presentation of twelve looks, only because I had seen four of them back in 2005 from the first EarthPledge event. Apparently several of those same pieces made their way down Seattle’s runway as well, as Oscar de la Renta is not a name we typically associate with organic cotton. However, I was happy to see a few designers committed to sustainability included this time around and the event was held at ABC Carpet & Home which is never a bad place to hang out. The store has a strong commitment to sustainability and was also promoting its ecologically sensitive furniture.
PORTLAND FASHION WEEK
Portland Fashion Week, October 19th – 24th, was also very green focused visit the website to watch slide shows of the events or read all about it on Greenloop’s blog, the boutique is Portland’s go to shop for eco-fashion.

Hello from Germany
I do like your blog, especially your Sustainable Style entries, very much. This time you’ve missed one other ethical fashion show, which recently took place in Berlin. It’s been called FairFashion and there were only german labels, slowmo, fairliebt and the like. The website ist at http://fairfashion.info/
Many thanks for mentioning my coverage my coverage of PFW on Greenloop’s blog.
