christmas toys, christmas presents, made in China, Chinese toy factories, Chinese factory workers, worker's rights, human rights, working conditions in China, who makes your toys

We like to fool kids (and maybe ourselves) with tales of holiday elves working with tiny hammers in a North Pole workshop. The truth is, the vast majority of toys found under the tree this year are and will be made by human beings in China. These adults (and often minors) toil for 12 hours a day often under unethical, and sometimes scathingly horrid working conditions. Photographer Michael Wolf recently released an entire collection of photographs that show what life is really like for those working in Chinese toy factories. Take a closer look at this series and find out how you can be part of the solution vs. the problem.
