In Sakir Gökçebag’s hands, string beans appear as textiles, and pomegranate seeds and watermelons create frames and tessellations. Appearing almost as if they were manipulated by Photoshop, each photograph is positioned an constructed by hand. Perfect geometry is not found in the natural world, which could be why his photographs of familiar, imperfect objects appear so striking. Combined with lush colors and the negative space of the white background, playing with your food never reached such a level of high art.
