A salon in Hong Kong was renovated by Upscaling Operations using abandoned teak wood flooring panels from the city’s vacated buildings. Customers are greeted by an array of angled fins that displays hair care products, which also partitions the reception area from the styling area. The layered locker doors merged together with naturally oxidized brass were designed as an atypical way of opening in order to save space. With the help of forward thinking co-owners, the project brought back a rare delicacy of tectonics to the city’s built environment.
