Green Gadget fans have been waiting for the holy green grail of gadgets for awhile now: the solar-powered mobile phone. And now it seems that Samsung has finally delivered on this promise with their brand new Blue Earth phone. Blue Earth is a gorgeous green touch phone that has a full solar panel on its back which can generate enough power to charge the phone. And yes – the gadget is still small enough to fit in your pocket!

Wow! this would be such a hot seller in India, and Africa! I saw so many households in the India countrysides that had solar panels, just for charging their cell-phones. and yes, India has a 3g network where oxen still pull carts. I really hope they are going to sell these to the 3′rd world countries at an affordable price.
At Solargex we are always looking for innovations that can be used throughout the Pacific Islands – what a brilliant idea! Let’s hope that the operational frequencies are suitable for this “part of the world”.

Oxen are among the most fuel-efficient vehicles there are.
This is fascinating!! Two things:
1. I hope the phone is affordable to everone who would want one, regardless of income and country of residence
2. I also hope that other phone, laptop and other gadget manufacturers follow this excellent example!
I want one! Unfortunately Verizon said that it is not compatibile with their system and they would not be making them available.
