We have them already for years here in the Netherlands, but I’m not so sure it really works. Because that there are more bike’s then their is space in the bike-box. So you end up with cars and bikes next to each other, and this creates also dangerous situations. Because as a car driver it is easy to overlook a bike, and as bikes it is easy to be tempted to slip past a car. As a biker i stopped counting the near escapes, as car-driver the times i needed to apply emergency breaks.

But In the city, bikes are the fastest way to go, especially when it comes to the old-towns. So i do applaud the initiative SF.

I am a bicyclist (have both a road and mountain bike) but THIS IS RIDICULOUS. There should be a bike land BESIDE the cars, not in front of them.
