The C-type Cargo bike blends simple design elements with clever construction techniques to create an elegant bike that is suitable to transport more than just the cyclist! The bike also has some great technology embedded into the design — a GPS chip connects to a tracking system to track statistics about daily cycle routines and provide users with extra protection from theft.
Sanitovare not simply interested in making bikes; they hope to spread a much wider message with their GPS system that tracks users bike patterns onto to a map system. They hope that this will ultimately create a large collaborative art project as the routes of many different people are traced in different colours across the city. In their own words: “As we move about in the great urban cities of the world, we are taking part in an orchestrated series of vibrations… Ultimately making movement not just a sustainable action but an art form.”
The Art of Movement exhibition also features posters from a range of international artists from Copenhagen, Barcelona, Tokyo, Montreal and London. We loved the posters which include patriotic images such as the British Queen riding a bicycle and some more provocative images such as a re-make of the Last Supper image, with a bicycle inserted!
