Sansiri Vertical Living Gallery is an Alluring Bangkok Office Wrapped in Green

This outstanding sales office in Bangkok is wrapped in vertical gardens ^[6]full of Tokyo Dwarf plants. Called the Sansiri Vertical Living Gallery and designed by Sansiri PCL ^[7], the building was framed with inexpensive steel construction to accommodate the vertical garden's hanging pot plants and drip irrigation infrastructure ^[8]. A relatively new phenomenon in urban Bangkok, where the built environment has long overpowered nature, this green-walled building acts as a showcase for what the city may look like in the near future.

The designers chose a single plant to populate their vertical garden. Given that the temperatures in the city can become quite suffocating during the summer months ^[10], it was necessary to choose a plant that would easily adapt. The Tokyo Dwarf is a ground plant that is remarkably hardy and requires very little maintenance.

In addition to being a simple, attractive addition to the building’s otherwise glass facade, the green cut outs act as a ^[11]minor carbon sink. In this densely populated city where poorly maintained cars and tuk tuks and trucks create a sooty atmosphere, Bangkok can benefit from any additional greenery. We hope this project by Sansiri will spread a greater vertical garden phenomenon!
