Gallery: Sapore dei Mobili: Designers Serve up Bite-Sized Furniture Cak...

By making edible furniture they have certainly created an inventive feast.

The pair whipped up the home-baked morsels in their own custom-built pan, drawing on their own respective nationalities (Japan and Portugal) – to combine a traditional Japanese ‘baby castella’ cake maker with a Portuguese egg-based pastry maker. They explain on their website that by making this series of miniature edible pieces, they wanted to create an alternative way to experience furniture.

“You can create your eatable living room and paint your furniture cakes with your favorite jams and toppings,” explains the Sapore dei Mobili website. “When the user gets full of his furniture, he just eats it without creating disposals. And [then you can] start all over again with a different recipe.” Feast your eyes on our pics of the pair’s brilliant conceptual pieces by clicking through our gallery below!
