  • Pretty soon, all the animals on a dairy farm will be able to produce human breast milk. Last year, Argentine scientists cloned a cow to produce nutrient-rich ‘human breast milk.’ Now, scientists in Russia and Belarus have engineered transgenetic dairy goats that can produce milk that contains lactoferrin, a protein that’s found in women’s milk. The breakthrough could be helpful for the children of mothers who can’t or don’t want to breast feed, but genetically-modified goat’s milk can contain harmful chemicals.
