Sedes,-is.’s Eume Chair Is a Handcrafted Seat Made with Burnt Wood

Thermotreated chestnut has been used to bring a new chair into the Sedes,-is. [5] project. The design recalls the old Japanese torii [6]; a wood structure that resists the passage of the time, and symbolically marks the transition from the profane to the sacred. By burning the wood without oxygen, the durability of the piece is improved and more character is added. For Sedes,-is., the Eume chair is not just a seat, but a little monument to the forest of Eume [7] damaged by uncontrolled fires last summer in Spain.
