Looking for an eye-catching alternative to a bicycle or motorcycle? Enter the Self-Balancing Unicycle [2] (SBU), an electric contraption from Focus Designs [3] that features a 1000 watt motor, three gyro sensors, and foot pegs instead of pedals.

The newest version of the SBU also features a 38.4V LifePO4 battery that goes 12 miles at up to 10 mph–not ideal for long commutes, but perfect for short trips around the neighborhood. Perhaps most impressively, Focus claims that riders can master the SBU in just 20 minutes.

Of course, fun transportation [4] tools like this rarely come cheap–the SBU costs $1499, with the first orders shipping in November.
