Sett Studio recently completed two homes in the South-Central Bouldin Creek neighborhood of Austin, demonstrating that green design needs to become a standard feature rather than just an add-on. The homes at 900 and 902 W Live Oak are currently both for sale and are built to LEED standards with low utility bills and modern design. Sett Studio prides itself on energy-efficient homes with smart design and sustainable materials, plus they make their own charred wood Shou-Sugi-Ban timbers that are rot, bug, and weather resistant.
Shown here is 902 W Live Oak, a 4 bedroom, 3 bath home adding up to 2,222 sq ft. You can buy this home right now for $799,000 and it’s next door neighbor, 900 W Live Oak is also for sale – for the same price. Both homes were built to Sett Studio’s standards of energy efficient design and sustainable materials and could meet LEED certification. They were built using SIP construction, which is 15 times more airtight than its stick framed counterpart with fiberglass insulation.
Inside the homes feature a modern, open floor plan layout with thoughtful attention to space efficiency, making the most of the moderate square footage. The 902 house also features a rooftop deck with views of the city and both are within walking & biking distance of shops and restaurants. Sett Studios also incorporates their Shou-Sugi-Ban charred wood into the homes, either with original black charring or a colored stain. The sustainably-sourced pine wood becomes rot, bug and weather resistant through the studio’s charring process. You can even buy the charred wood straight from Sett Studio to include in your own project.
