Located an hour’s drive south of Seoul, the clubhouse for this 18-hole golf course stands out for its elegance and intricate design. Taking full advantage of advanced technologies in woodworking and technology, the Japanese architect [8] simplified the assembly process using modular components. The wooden grid shell is supported by a series of columns and is surrounded by local stone and big windows that let plenty of light in.
Created in collaboration with Kaci International [9] the clubhouse has three floors and a basement. Completed in 2010, the wooden structure’s hexagonal [10] shape was inspired by traditional Korean summer cushions called “bamboo wife”. [11] Using the pillow’s same concept, the structure allows the breeze to flow through the interiors, is sturdy, and is also made from natural sustainable materials.
