Shipping crates live nomadic lives as they travel around the world to transport our goods, food and furniture. However, the Italian designer Marcantonio Raimondi Malerba has given one of these crates a more permanent home by turning it into a unique table fit for display. Export is a sideboard that reuses this common shipping item and gives it a second lease on life, with the simple addition of some elegant legs.

Recycling and reuse are obviously an important aspect of Marcantonio Raimondo Malerba‘s work, as his furniture portfolio also features some other great designs that are made from old floorboards, retired chairs, and other found materials. We love this piece, as the crates not only make sturdy sideboards — their patina also tells a story of the places they have seen or the items they have sheltered during their travels.
