Shu-Chun Hsiao’s Google Bird Houses Point Out the Dwellings of Feathered Friends

These playful Google birdhouses [4] by Shu-Chun Hsiao [5] re-imagine typical bird dwellings as points of interest in urban locations. Inspired by the Google Maps [6] landmark icon, Hsiao’s modern bird houses [7] mark the places where birds go to rest.

Here at Inhabitat we love seeing innovative new digs for our feathered friends – from pixellated tree houses [8] to adobe tile abodes [9]. Whereas some designs seek to blend into the environment, Shu-Chun Hsiao [5]‘s Google Birdhouses do the opposite. They tag the little feathered creature’s homes, identifying the places they roost so that passersby can take note and keep an eye out for them.
