Gallery: Clothing for Furniture: Sinje Ollen’s Cozy Knits Give Old, Dam...

The cover matches the accompanying rug, since they are designed to live in the same room.

Sinje Ollen was first inspired to create Clothing for Furniture when a friend brought her a designer chair that was damaged by a spill. Rather than completely reupholstering the chair, Ollen decided to create a cozy cover that concealed the spill. The idea has grown into a bespoke line of covers that add color and texture to classic furnishings while preserving their iconic lines.

Taking inspiration from architects and designers of the ’40s, ’50s and ’60s, Sinje Ollen works with contemporary modern designers to create sculptural textiles. Made from hand-dyed Italian Merino wool, the vibrant Berry Pi “jacket” above is designed for the Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair. The cover matches the accompanying rug, since they are designed to live in the same room.
