smartspace [1]

Have you ever dreamed about living in a super futuristic apartment with movable walls, foldable furniture and multifunction appliances? (I’m not the only one, am I?) If you have ? integrated design group AvroKO [2] (of PUBLIC [3] fame) has the answer to all your Jetsons fantasies. They are launching Smart.Space [4] this weekend, an ambitious project which involves buying small Manhattan apartments and completely overhauling them ? transforming them into the coolest, most efficient, most-high tech apartments around. If you like modernist murphy beds [5] and other folding furniture, this is the apartment for you. There is even a guest bedroom hidden inside a wall. Efficiency does come with a hefty price tag, though. The very small 2 BR apartments (both about 600 sq ft each) are priced at roughly $1,350 a square foot.

Smart.Space is debuting this weekend, and opening the west village apartments to the public for the first time, between 1 ? 3pm, Sat & Sun. Details can be found here. [4]
