Gallery: Solar Powered Sungevity Ice Pop Truck Gives Out Free Organic P...

Bostonites who come across the Sungevity Ice Pop Truck tomorrow will be treated to a free organic popsicle and an iQuote showing how much it would cost to go solar. The solar power company has outfitted a truck with own panels and is driving around the country giving out freebies and educating people about solar power. Last week the food truck was touring around NYC showing off its biodiesel and solar powered technology and treating people to a range of tasty organic ice pops from GoodPops. Next up, the truck will be in Boston. What with the high temps on the east coast, free organic popsicles and solar power seem like a perfect way to spend a summer day.

Sungevity’s solar powered popsicle truck will be hitting farmer’s markets, festivals and other public events in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, and Delaware this summer as part of their Rolling Rooftop Revolution. The orange and white biodiesel truck is part of the company’s campaign to educate the east coast market on the potential for residential solar power. The Oakland-based solar energy services company is hoping to help people cool down with solar power and show through on-the-spot installation quotes on iPads that solar systems are actually within the average person’s reach.

Sungevity specializes in the design, financing, installation and maintenance of home solar systems in Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York. The company is offering free online quotes and zero money down leases to install solar systems. This means that Sungevity owns and operates the solar system, but you provide the roof, lease the system and get all the benefits of using renewable energy at your home.

The Ice Pop Truck was touring around New York City last week, but is on its way to Boston right now before heading on to New Jersey the week after. Austin-based GoodPops is providing the all-natural, organic frozen popsicles in 7 flavors: soy coconut, mango, strawberry, hibiscus mint, cold brew coffee, watermelon agave and banana cinnamon.
