Solar Rydon Pixio Bike Light Stores Sunlight for Safer Cycling at Night

by , 06/26/13

Bike lights are essential for safe cycling at night – but they’re prone to breakage, dead batteries, and theft. Dutch company Rydon has developed a green solution to all of these problems with the Pixio, a durable solar-powered bike light that can be permanently mounted to any bike frame. The light uses a solar panel to store energy during the day for cycling at night, and it can currently be purchased on the crowdfunding site Indiegogo.

The Rydon Pixio has a simple yet sophisticated design that can be easily mounted to a bike using a theft proof strap. The light features a built-in solar panel that is protected by a weatherproof casing. Simply store the bike in a sunny area or ride around during the day and the solar panel will collect energy to power the LED bulb at night.
