What do you get when you take an average vertical blind (the kind found in practically any rental apartment across the United States), outfit it with special mini photovoltaics and LED pixels, then add a healthy dose of creative inspiration? The surprisingly chic and witty Solar Vertical Lamp designed by Yoon-Hui Kim and Eun-Kyung Kim. By creatively applying existing technology, Kim and Kim transform the lowly blind into a sustainable, sexy, and dramatic lighting system. Finally, a blind that has truly seen the light.

That seems wicked scientific. And as simple as it seems, what about something even SIMPLER to install that is still sustainable? What about bamboo shades?

Why have it in the design of a lamp when all your are really after is the light it generates? Thats like hooking up a cell phone to a dial up phone attached to the wall.
You could make it any design you want. The possibilities are endless.

This is really clever, combining solar technology with everyday items such as blinds. Do you think they will work with bamboo roll up blinds?

While choosing the material, know that aluminum may be less costly as compared to the wood. Both these materials are attractive and serve you for longer duration. But wood blinds are usually expensive to buy as these are meant for sophisticated interior décor. So, if budget is the concern, we suggest that you shop for the metal blinds.
