Very good question. I don\\\’t know the answer but what I do know is solar cells/panels are made flat and are very brittle so making them wrap around the aero-dynamics of this plane would be very challenging indeed. It would take a lot of product development on the solar technology side, I suppose these guys have just incorporated what is already available.

Could someone explain to me why the whole plane isn’t just covered in solar cells? I’ll admit that i have very little understanding in the subject, but I’m just curious to understand why the plane (and other solar vehicles for that matter) aren’t just coated in solar cells?
