High fashion for low prices? There has to be a catch — and it appears that there is. Spanish retailer Zara, once described by Louis Vuitton’s fashion director as “possibly the most innovative and devastating retailers in the world,” has been accused of using slave labor to produce its wares in more than 30 outsourced Brazilian manufacturing plants, according to Forbes. Zara has responded to the accusations, saying that the company will strengthen its supervision of factories, and that it has asked factories responsible for illegal outsourcing to comply with company standards.
