This stunning single-family home was built into the sloping hills of Barrundia, Spain by architecture studio
Roberto Ercilla. The dwelling is a series of forms that protrude over the edge of the hill. It was designed to have minimal impact on the surrounding terrain, occupying less than 10% of the overall site. Nestled into the hillside, the house is largely hidden from view, with just a butterfly roof visible from the street.
As well as creating a beautiful home, Dwelling in Etura was designed to help residents reduce their energy consumption. As such, the architecture studio incorporated an insulating green roof, biomass and water-saving elements.
The project is comprised of contemporary shapes and clean lines, emphasizing open space and light. Within Ercilla’s unique design, residents can move between levels and out beyond the driveway, to access a landscaped lawn. Each of the bedrooms are flooded with light and views out across the Spanish countryside.
