We’re sorry to start the week with some dismal news, but here goes: A report released today by Australian scientists shows the continent experienced unprecedented warming over the past 50 years. Not only has Australia’s mean temperature increased by 0.7 degrees Celsius since 1960, the continent is experiencing sea level rise and higher sea surface temperatures.
The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Organization (CSIRO) and the Bureau of Meteorology put together the report, entitled “State of the Climate.” Using 100 years-worth of monitoring and research data, scientists found that Australia’s mean average temperature had increased by 0.7 degrees Celsius since 1960, with some parts of the continent warming by as much as 1.5 to 2 degrees Celsius. Scientists also projected that if global warming continues unabated, Australia’s average temperature is set to rise by 0.6 to 1.5 degrees Celsius by 2030.
The report clearly creates a bleak picture, but hopefully it will at least inspire people to action. The climate change skeptic camp has been very vocal lately, especially since errors were revealed in an IPCC report. Just last week, Gallup released poll results which indicated that almost 50 percent of Americans think climate change is not caused by human activities! Hopefully a report produced by some of Australia’s top scientists will convince skeptics that global warming is real and the time to curb greenhouse gas emissions is now.

Do you really think the world is going to reduce emissions?
Back in 1990 when i researched it in depth i concluded as well as 1% of the other scientists that we needed to cut emissions by 90% of 1990 levels worldwide right then. Now it’s reduce emissions by a lesser amount to only allow what’s acceptable to them as far as damages goes. One has to wonder what’s acceptable to them.
Apparently some species going extinct, millions starving to death and billions hungry is acceptable to them.
Either cut emissions by 95% now which isn’t going to happen or get into geo-engineering.
