Stockholm International Fairs is finishing up a large renovation and expansion of the exhibition center, and the most recent of the upgrades includes the new multifunctional space intended for conferences and large exhibitions, called the AE-hall, along with the B-gallery lined with vertical gardens [1]. Mirror-like ceilings and lush greenery line the hall, and the adjacent bathrooms also feature vertical gardens, all in attempt to expand the feel of the space even during the dark winters as well as clean the air [2].

The exterior of the building is clad in a woven metal screen [3] to provide a buffer against the elements for the building while energy efficient lighting fixtures accentuate the basket-like facade. All of the visible roofs are covered in sedum plants [4], and the center features an energy-saving system with movement detectors that regulate lighting and temperature depending on how many people are in each venue. The exhibition center also buys recycled office materials, uses eco-friendly cleaning agents, sources 60% of their power from renewable energy sources [5] and recycles 60% of their waste.
