Coal was briqueted early in the 20th century---powdered coal was also used.---In the 1920's the Cottrell separator was installed on most industrial plant sytack's.That device is an electrostatic particle collector. It retrieve's valuable by-product's while also keeping the air clean.
It might pay to find out where some of the early responsible good engineering has gone.
See my web site at SLYTRAINZASTRON for some possible other lost technology and "data".---b7jk9w@toast.net--

More than likely we are all using dirty coal to power the computers being used to sign this petetion. I think if you really want to be active dig a little deeper and start wacking at the roots of this problem not just the branches that have sprouted.

Ok people, I think you are over reacting a little. Take a moment and reach back and see where your shirt was manufactured. How about the computer you are reading this on. I bet it says MADE IN CHINA. What do you think they are using for power? That's right! COAL!

Mind you it is less than 10 percent for coal and 27 percent for natural gas.
Now they already generate 62 percent form hydroelectric, and they are increasing their wind generation. Making them by far the Greenest in the country. But those have a few set back for them.
Mainly Colder climate.
Hydro has to cut back to reserve water till the snow thaws and other environmental reasons.
Wind, As proven in many articles from Minnesota and colder regions has a tendency to seize up.
This cause issues in base load reliability. Wind so far hasn't lived up to its efficiency claims, most systems generating less than a third that they are rated. Which doesn't help in winter when hydro availability is reduced.
To compensate you use coal, natural gas, or nuclear.
Now Oregon is in a position to easily cut coal from its usage. Currently the rest would still be made up from fossil fuels.
And you still have the issue of not all power generated or used in a state stays or comes from that state. You'd have to isolate Oregon from the whole western seaboard grid if not the facility itself and run standalone generators to guarantee the purity of the power source.

Before I sign the petition, I'd like to see the evidence that backs this up. Can you please supply this? Thanks!
