Dror Benshetrit [5], known for his QuaDror [6]architectural building blocks, has been putting his design chops to use recently for something just a little different than structural joints: synagogue interiors. To be specific, it’s just one synagogue, but what a design doozy it is. Aptly named the Soho Synagogue [7], the newly opened shul is chic and stylish house of prayer located in an old Gucci storefront [8] on Crosby Street in New York City. Founders Rabbi Dovi Scheiner and his wife Esty wanted a space that combined religious traditions with a modern aesthetic to fit the desires of the young, open-minded local Jewish community.
