Perhaps acknowledging that nothing can compete with the incredible Pyrenees mountains, the Fontanals de Cerdanya Golf Course and Social Center didn't even try. While unquestionably impressive, the design specs called for a building that would be subordinate to the mountains which form the natural border between Spain and France. MiAS Architects subsequently managed to create a well-camouflaged addition to the mountain scene without compromising one iota of its beauty.
The building was constructed using not only locally-sourced materials, but also according to historical tradition and with local labor. No outsourcing of labor here! Even the golf course was developed from indigenous flora in keeping with the project’s total commitment to respecting its unique natural site. The result is a well-adapted facility that seems to belong, which is exactly the goal for this extraordinary building.
