"Through publishing this book, we want to be able to assist the underprivileged cycling community through our project - be it teaching bicycle maintenance skills, providing necessities like helmets, tires, tubes, locks . . ."
Project founders Stan Engelbrecht and Nic Grobler began documenting cyclists in early 2010. They’re infinitely curious about people and their relationship to bikes. The portraits may be gathered into a real-life book if the project gets enough backers on kickstarter: the closing date is September 16th and there’s still a few thousand dollars left to go. Backers who pledge $50 or more effectively pre-order a copy of the book. Englebrchant and Grober are also creating video portraits as they go, fascinated by the diverse population of South Africa that is united behind their bikes.
