Gallery: VillaLola: Stunning Home Perched Above a Fjord Mirrors the Ice...

They ensured that the natural surroundings remained undisturbed.

ARKIS sought to accentuate the natural beauty of the region, which is flooded with light and color. The designers incorporated neutral color combinations that mirror the surrounding grasses and woods. They also took care not to disturb the natural surroundings and made use of local materials, which ensured that the structure would be low-cost and low-maintenance.

VillaLóla is clad with Larch wood, a locally sourced wood that is typical to the region. The larch wood is weathered to provide a natural barrier from extreme conditions. The interior surfaces are gypsum surfaced stud frame walls that are painted with eco-friendly paint.
