Sun Catching Solarflora Sculpture Holds Solar Panels in its Leaves

We’ve seen plenty of creative solar [4] panel designs — some more attractive than others. The latest to come down the pipeline is Solarflora [5], a sleek sculpture that holds three solar panels (one panel per “leaf”). Built by Nectar Design [6], the flower-like sculpture made its debut this week in New City Schools’ urban garden in Long Beach, California.

The Solarflora was manufactured by Nectar at its Long Beach facility using all local products, and it marks Nectar’s contribution towards building a sustainable energy [7] industry in the U.S. No word on whether Solarflora will be mass-produced (or how much it might cost), but we love the idea of home-grown, attractive solar power-producing sculptures!
