Bamboo Cottages is a family owned, 19-room boutique beach resort located on Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam. It was established with the goal of positively impacting the local community, by supporting local education and providing jobs as well as preserving and cultivating its natural environment. Sustainability is the primary focus of this resort, with initiatives that include recycling all plastic bottles and aluminum cans, as well as composting of all organic materials from the restaurant and grounds. Both natural and recycled products have been reused as frequently as possible, such as using hundreds of wine bottles to create raised flooring. Owner Felise Hai-Ly Nguyen and General Manager Charles Vaught also implemented a solar power system that supplies 100 percent of the resort’s electricity. An organic garden is currently being cultivated so herbs and spices can be grown onsite.
