For eco fashion fans, what’s not to adore about Alyson Fox’s A Small Collection? We have covered Alyson before on Inhabitat, but we were totally excited to see her name in the designer line-up for tonight’s Project Earth Day Eco-Fashion Show at the Teknion Showroom in NYC. A Small Collection is proof indeed that small ideas can make a big impact when it comes to original, eco-friendly designs being shared with like-minded folks. Crafted from vintage wares and sustainable add-ons like buttons made from fallen branches, Alyson Fox’s creations really make you feel like you have arrived at the surprise birthday party that you always dreamed of, or at least pined for, with a few simple elements thoughtfully assembled together for all to enjoy.
Alyson Fox is a super-creative, energetic, and sustainably-minded chick. Her collections consistently amaze us with their cleverly resourceful use of recycled, vintage fabrics combined with eco-friendly textiles. Each collection’s dresses, jumpers, sweaters, and separates all dove-tail together in the most efficient and trend-defying manner. The additional incorporation of ‘organic elastic’ in lieu of zippers and the fore-mentioned ‘fallen- tree-branch’ buttons really sets Fox apart as a designer who is concerned with every last lifecycle detail.
In addition to all of this wholesome, hand-made goodness, the designer has put together the most alluring and addictive website with quirky video narratives for featured pieces as well still frames for examining the collection in more detail. Drawings, prints, and collectible design doodles also help to give a fun flavor to the free-spirited and playful world that Alyson Fox inhabits. We are really looking forward to seeing A Small Collection parade down the runway in a really big way. Bring on the balloons and eco-stylin’ party goers!
