Gallery: SUSTAINABLE STYLE SUNDAY: Greening Designers & Agents

This past weekend the popular fashion trade show Designers & Agents launched their new green initiatives at their Fall II/ Holiday show here in NYC. I was invited to exhibit my fiftyRX3 project to help raise awareness about sustainability in the fashion industry. Here’s my report…

GOOD magazine was on hand to host a party for Josh Dorfman’s release of The Lazy Environmentalist book, which included a Q & A with the author and Earth Pledge’s Leslie Hoffman. Dorfman’s eco-friendly virtual store, Vivavi, provided the furnishings for the lounge in the Green Room where I was stationed as part of the “consciousness raising” area. That is what you do at a trade show when you have nothing to sell. Aside from the green vendors integrated throughout the show, the Green Room showcased green candles, beauty, accessories, and clothing along with SIGG water bottles (don’t forget the contest!). Among the twenty-plus green vendors were Inhabitat favorites Sea Bags, Bahar Shahpar, Organic, Carga and stewart+brown.

While I did make some new fashion discoveries, which will surely grace the Sustainable Style pages in the near future, the closeted artist in me also enjoyed eco-lounging beneath Aurora Robson’s calming, recycled plastic sculptures that hung from the ceiling. Also on the scene was artist David Cohen with his virtual field from The Seed Project.

I’m looking for hip trade show designers who utilize sustainability methods when designing trade show booths. Must be cutting edge, with fantastic ideas and the ability to solve problems quickly. any ideas?
