Both me and my partner have abandoned shopping and have not bought any new clothing this year outside of socks and underwear.
I proudly took used hand-me down sweaters from a relative as well- I feel great that these items will live and serve me, used or not.

Once one embarkes on the path of true self-sufficiency and sustainability, you loose interest in buying pre-made fashion.
There are literally TONS of used clothing one can modify and reuse.
Fashion can at best serve as inspiration to do things yourself and feel empowered that only YOU can define YOUR style.

Too many designers - both in accessories, living, fashion and building- embrace \"green\" and \"ecological\" as a new sales tactic.
It\'s free press!
Consumers get to say what they want, but is it not best to keep silent and abandon unnecessary purchases?

Indeed Backlund is a great talent, bold, expressive and unique at many levels. I have been following her work and we can consider it as being part of the philosophy of the turning point of this new century as well as the work designed by people like Tom Scott or Latifa Medjdoub. They all convey the idea of a nature in human, they are all interpreting the body with a poetic and dramatic sense of beauty, often with great hope.

I think Sandra Backlund is doing some of the most amazing knits and designs that I've seen. Totally creative and very real Haute. Great styling and photography to boot. Love it!

(I don't get the "garbage" comment????)

Of course we appreciate all opinions and feedback here at Inhabitat, but I just wanted to add that Sandra Backlund has a very strong history of outstanding design and handicraft work. Although the materials here may seem to be "garbage" or ad-hoc, the deisgner gives a lot of consideration to all stages of each collection's development and conceptual impact.

"Haute garbage" is sometimes a good thing - in the sense of reclaimed materials and hip resourcefulness.

Thanks for reading,

Haute-garbage.....................Many people will echo the critics praises, while thinking to themselves "this is a bunch of crap"......much like the emporer's new clothes
