Mark Sanders’ Elegantly Folding Swivel Mode Bicycle

Amongst all the hoopla at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, we were pleasantly surprised to see a gorgeous foldable bicycle with no electronic components soaking up the spotlight. Mark Sanders IF Swivel Mode is a sleek bicycle that features an ingenious collapsible design. Whereas most folding bikes entail a compromise between portability and performance, the elegantly engineered Swivel Mode manages to pack a full size bicycle into a compact folding package.

Designed by Mark Sanders (who brought us the excellent Strida bicycle), the Swivel Mode is one of Areaware‘s latest offerings. It is designed for city use and easily folds to fit in car trunks, buses, and subway cars, making it perfect for the urban commuter. The two-speed bike weighs in at 27.5 pounds, and folds to a relatively compact 16.5in, x 9.8in x 29.4in. We’re big fans of the bike’s beautiful design – those elegant rims strike a gorgeous compliment to the monocoque frame.

Also available as part of the same line are the IF Reach, a smaller version of the full sized bike, and the more traditional looking IF Cross.
