3D Systems launched a new 3D printer at the 2013 CES, which boasts “the largest print volume in its category,” according to an announcement from the firm. Called the CubeX, the printer is able to print an object “as big as a basketball,” says the company, with 1,070 cubic inches of volume, or 10.8” x 10.45” x 9.5”. The printer is targeted at tech enthusiasts, serious hobbyists, educators, and entrepreneurs, with pricing starting at $2,499.

French electronics company Parrot just unveiled a new gizmo at CES 2013 called the Flower Power that makes it easy to monitor the health of your leafy friends. The small branch-shaped device can be inserted into the soil of your houseplants or lawn and used to monitor moisture, sunlight, humidity, temperature, and fertilizer conditions via your smartphone. Their corresponding application holds a database of up to 6,000 species, helping you care for your specific plant.

Lexus has unveiled a sneak preview of its luxury LS model equipped with proprietary Intelligent Transport Systems technology, including an on-board radar and video cameras that allow the car to function without the assistance of a driver. The OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) XO hand-cranked laptop for kids recently drew a lot of controversy amongst users because it didn’t really work. Well, to be fair, the laptop part of it was fine and dandy but the actual hand crank (a major selling feature of the device which was designed with developing nations in mind) was never able to fully charge the device because it was powered by x86 AMD and VIA processors that pulled too much power. However, OLPC is set to right all of those wrongs with a new improved iteration of the portable computer – the OLPC XO 1.75.
