‘Re-Juicer’ Gets More Juice Out of Plastic Water Bottles

Simple yet clever, we’re raising our glasses to the inventive repurposing behind the Re-Juicer. The Re-Juicer turns an orange into OJ with the twist of a wrist and a plastic water bottle. Another cheeky product from New York designer and founder of Amron Experimental, Scott Amron, the Re-Juicer is made from the bottom part of a Poland Springs water bottle. Because of the bottle’s inherent flexibility, it easily bends to pour your fresh squeezed juice into a glass. Cheers to that!

Just because your lamp requires lightbulbs doesn’t mean a candle won’t do the job just as well! Our last installment of the Die Electric collection is the cheeky and low-tech Candull candle-light, which replaces the common energy-sapping bulb with a low-tech yet equally functional candle. The candle is even adapted with a screw-base to fit directly into your desk lamp. Like the rest of Scott Amron’s Die Electric creations, Candull takes a wryly clever approach to energy efficiency, removing the energy entirely and replacing it with a dash of wit.

ELECTRIC CORD SHELF by Die Electric

Die Electric is an experiment in powering down and rethinking electrical components for uses other than just spinning the meter. Case in point: SHELF. Using a cut power cord, SHELF forms a rigid surface for storage making energy sucking fixtures the second choice. Its functional capacity is as intriguing as its behavior changing ability. The object is familiar yet challenges the user to question its purpose – designer Scott Amron’s intent. Like all of Amron’s Die Electric concepts, SHELF makes use of AC components but without the flow of electricity.

OFF LIGHT SWITCH HANGER by Die Electric

With OFF, the light switch hook from Die Electric, form follows function and then some. OFF is a fully functional light switch that doubles as a place to hang essentials when in the OFF position – prompting the user to choose to save electricity. The clever little gadget not only takes some significant kWhs off of the meter, but serves as a subtle reminder to turn off the lights – while solving the age old “where are my keys?” quandary on a daily basis.

As a freelance electrical engineer, conceptual artist, inventor, and the founding principal of Amron Experimental, Amron’s work aims to visually demonstrate how reliant we have become on the ubiquitous wall outlet and its seemingly endless supply of energy.
