The guys over at Autoblog were on hand when Ample International unveiled the Eo, a new small electric vehicle that Ample is calling the “world’s first e-quadricycle.” The Eo was on display at the Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS26) last week in Los Angeles. The vehicle features highly unique styling, but can seat up to three passengers and has an impressive all-electric range of 124 miles. Ample’s Shida Zheng describes the Eo as a “four-wheeled motorcycle, completely powered by electricity.”

Here’s the ultimate ride for two-wheeled electric speed freaks –  the Peraves MonoTracer MTE-150. A commercial version of the electrified motorbike that took away top X-Prize honors in the alternative class division will soon be available for purchase. This isn’t your normal speedy motor-bike, however – the MTE-150 comes complete with a luxurious cabin, a top of the line stereo, temperature control, and wheels that pop out when you pull up to a stop light to keep you upright. Among the many green offerings from the Frankfurt Motor Show is a new bike from Husqvarna called the e-go, an electric bicycle that looks just like a motorcycle but appears to be floating on air. The e-go weighs just 176 pounds and its frame, though sturdy and well-supported, is designed in such a way as to make the rear half look airy and light.

Last year, a new stand-on electric motorcycle made its debut, defying categorization. Performance Concepts Inc.’s 2011 MXB Shocker motocrossboard was a hand-controlled two-wheel electric vehicle that looked like a cross between a snowboard and a dirt bike. There was such widespread interest in the Shocker that PCI CEO Andy Keel decided to work on the vehicle further before releasing it for orders. The results have been awesome: 4 new 2012 Shocker models are now available for pre-order, and they’re lighter and less expensive than the first version. Even the largest motorcycle museum in the world, the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in Alabama, is getting excited about this unique, green vehicle, and will be displaying the original Shocker prototype there soon, an honor which Keel says left him speechless. Lighting Motorcycles just raised the bar for green transportation as it shattered the land speed record for electric bikes. Rider Paul Thede clocked in a blazing average of 206.079 miles per hour at the Bonneville Salt Flats, and he said that he hit a top speed of 208.38 mph during his ride. The Southern California Timing Association run beat last year’s 173.388 mph record by a landslide.

On this week’s episode of GigaOM TV’s video show Green Overdrive (where if it’s green we drive it), I take Brammo‘s all-electric motorcycle the Enertia out for a spin. It’s so much fun to drive, and I did my best impression of Top Gun as I rode around the base and past the (fake) jet in Alameda, Calif. The e-bike’s got a top speed of 60 mph, a range of 40 miles, will cost you about $8,000 (but less with subsidies) and uses a lithium iron phophate battery. Watch our test drive – enjoy!

It will be sent to the track for the first time in the upcoming clean emission World Championship TTXGP to prove its racing chops.
