A finalist at the Green Furniture Awards 2012, the ‘A-Board’ by Argentine-born Italy-based Tomas Schön’s is a bookshelf that consists simply of an eco-labeled plywood board and one strong orange ribbon. Using an innovative way to bend wood with the use of a laser cutter, this flat-pack, no-glue, no-screw shelving unit transforms from a single sheet into a shelf with just the pull of its ribbon. Exhibited at this year’s Stockholm Furniture Fair, this elegant piece of design is self-supporting and will rest elegantly against any wall.

IKEA is marketing its big annual sale with a line of clever furniture pieces made entirely out of the company’s very own flat pack furniture packaging. IKEA commissioned advertising agency AUGE Headquarter in Italy to make a big splash for their 40% sale, and that’s exactly what they’ve done by designing a table, a chair, and a table lamp – all made out of cardboard.

This beautiful felt Leaf Lamp features a light-as-air design that mimics the structural geometric forms found in plants and trees. Designer Peter Schumacher sought to use as little material as possible to create the lamp, which is composed entirely of wood and unbleached wool. All of the lamp’s components pack flat to ship, and they can be easily assembled in a variety of unique ways. Rainer & Tobias Kyburz‘s KARTONKLUNKER is a clever cardboard chandelier that packs flat to ship and can be set up in a snap without the use of screws or glue. Spotted over at SwissMiss, the fixture features the ornamental silhouette of a classic chandelier in a pared-down design that saves on shipping weight and material use. The lamp comes complete with wiring and six bulb sockets and is easy to assemble and hang, making it an easy way to add a bit of tongue-in-cheek class to any interior.
