If you drive a Ford C-Max or a Ford Fusion Hybrid, you might want to double check the fuel economy of your car. Two of Ford’s hybrids, the C-Max and the Fusion, fell short of fuel economy targets when tested by Consumer Reports, said the Detroit automaker on Friday. But Ford isn’t shying away from this potentially embarrassing issue, saying that it wants to work with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to improve the way it determines fuel efficiency, claiming that the current testing methods leave too much to chance and produce erratic results.

The all-new 2013 Ford C-MAX hybrid and C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid models are off to a great start. November was the first full month that both C-MAX hybrids were available and combined they outsold their closest competitors, the Toyota Prius plug-in and Prius v. Now the Ford C-MAX has also been named the official car for the 2013 International Consumer Electronics Association (CES) Expo, the world’s largest annual innovation event, scheduled for Jan. 8-11 in Las Vegas.

As more electric and hybrid vehicles enter the market, there is a growing concern from consumers about the reliability of the batteries that power them. Ford has unveiled a new lab test, the Key Life Test, which allows the automaker to simulate the equivalent of 10 years and 150,000 miles of wear and tear on hybrid vehicle batteries in about 10 months.

Ford’s all-new 2013 C-MAX Plug-in hybrid was just rated as most fuel-efficient plug-in hybrid available in the U.S. thanks to its 108 MPGe city rating and 100 MPGe combined rating. With today’s record gas prices, Ford estimates that over the course of five years, C-MAX Energi customers could save nearly $7,000 compared to the average new vehicle.

Ford just released two exciting new announcements for its 2013 C-MAX hybrid and the C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid. The 2013 Ford C-MAX hybrid has just been rated at 47 mpg across the board, which means that it gets an EPA-certified 47 mpg city, 47 mpg highway and 47 mpg combined. Ford also announced that the C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid is capable of reaching speeds up to 85 MPH in EV mode, which is the industry’s top electric-only speed among all plug-in hybrid vehicles.
